Gold Medal Performance – Indeed, when it comes to business and serving the community, Rudy Reimer is a Gold Medal Performer. His commitment to community was recognized in October 2002, when he was awarded the prestigious Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. This Royal recognition was for his “significant contribution” to Canada and his fellow Canadians. That same month, the Governor General presented Reimer with the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Confederation of Canada, lauding his “significant contribution to compatriots, community and Canada.”

In addition to such prestigious national awards for his citizenship, Rudy Reimer has garnered many professional awards. He has been named Developer of the Year, and is also the first ever recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, honoring his “dedication, vision and passion as a developer. He is further recognized in the highly influential Who's Who Register under prominent North American executives.

Recognition of Reimer's professional achievements have also been made at the International level. Reimer Construction was a finalist in the International Prix Excellence Awards, placing in the top 22 competing from 145 countries.

Another, and perhaps even more meaningful indication of the impact Rudy Reimer has had on the community, is the long-lasting positive impression he has had on business and community leaders. The favorable way in which he is viewed by others is expressed by Matt Koevoets, executive director of public works and environment for the City of Burlington, “My experience with Reimer Construction has been that the company has always conducted themselves in a professional and effective manner.”

Commitment to Burlington 's economic, cultural, and social development has been recognized by a number of Burlington Mayors. Current Mayor Robert MacIsaac has expressed his appreciation for Reimer's tireless efforts at helping the community and his ability to attract new businesses to the city. Over the years Reimer has been the recipient of more than 20 awards from the City of Burlington.

The late Mayor Roly Bird recognized the commitment made as a director of the Burlington Cultural Centre and a decade of dedicated involvement with the Burlington Business Development Corporation. He further expressed appreciation for Reimer's support of worthy causes and the “positive working relationship” Reimer had established with the city.

Reimer Country is often applied to the collective of Reimer's impressive construction achievements, but Reimer's World can equally be applied to his impressive service on a wide range of boards. Professional sports, medical research, cultural, and business committees have all been part of Reimer's World. His work in such a diverse realm has introduced him to the broadest range of leading business executives, medical researchers, and politicians.

For five years he served as Vice Chairman of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra Board; five years as Vice Chairman of the Burlington Cultural Centre, and seven years as the vice chairman and honorary chairman of Burlington Visitor and Convention Bureau.

Within Reimer's professional community, he served as chairman of the Toronto Home Builder's Halton Region Liaison for ten years. He also served the Burlington Development Committee as chairman for two and as vice chair for six years.

Reimer's board commitments have included service on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Corporation Advisory Board. Working alongside such prominent Hamiltonians as Martin Short—comedian, Lincoln Alexander—former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and Bob Morrow—former Hamilton Mayor and now Canadian Citizenship Judge, Reimer was able to contribute to the turn around of this truly Canadian sports franchise. He has given years of service to regional hospitals: Burlington’s Joseph Brant Hospital and Hamilton Chedoke-McMaster Children's Hospital.

The support that Reimer has provided for ‘Joe Brant' hospital has, in the words of Ebbe Marquardsen, VP of development and community relations, “…allowed us to stay on the leading edge of medical technology and help countless patients.” Upon receiving a generous financial donation in support of the hospital's New Tools for Life campaign through the Annual Crystal Ball celebration, Marquardsen further stated, “Your support is essential to maintain the equality of healthcare.” The donation was merely the most recent in a long string of donations Reimer has made to the hospital.

His support for Hamilton Medical facilities resulting in his supportive efforts to secure the services of former President Bill Clinton as guest speaker at the St. Joseph Hospital Fundraising Gala. The likes of international leaders doesn't stop with former US President Clinton. Reimer was also a board member of former USSR President Gorbachev's Foundation.

In response to the accolades, Reimer said that he enjoys helping people who are less fortunate and recognizes how important it is to have a good hospital in the community. He also maintains that the more we do for our hospitals, the more we do for ourselves as a community.

For decades, Rudy Reimer has helped so many worthy causes. He recently enjoyed sharing his philosophy for work with young High School Students.
